Job description

Change.org is searching for a Director or Senior Director of HR to lead a team responsible for employee-focused programs including but not limited to employee relations, staff learning & development, performance management and DEI.

We're a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the world's largest nonprofit-owned tech platform focused on civic action with 100m monthly users, 50,000+ campaigns launched on the site every month, and a 100% user-generated revenue model. Our users win campaigns for change once every hour. From strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa and calling for racial justice in the US, to fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil, and fighting violence against women in India.

Key Outcomes

Strategize and implement program initiatives to drive employee engagement and performance including but not limited to a new performance management philosophy, management training and all staff training.

Collaborate closely with the senior leadership team to provide thought partnership on best practices to support and develop staff.

Provide leadership to a global team of high performing HRBPs.

Contribute to Change.org's efforts to advance our diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging strategy.

Strategy & Planning

Evaluate our organization's needs and create, implement and lead programs that impact employee engagement and productivity

Take a data driven, systemic, process driven approach to formulating programs that improve employee performance and foster engagement, inclusivity and belonging across the global employee community

Ownership & Results

Track the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, while continually evolving strategies to improve outcomes

Oversee org wide performance management initiatives including creating thoughtful timelines, effectively managing stakeholders, driving a thorough communication plan, coordinating training, performance system admin and ensuring all deadlines and objectives are achieved

Help lead our diversity, inclusion equity & belonging efforts across all teams

Stakeholder management

Work with various People team stakeholders to implement initiatives across the organization to drive a superior employee engagement and productivity

Oversee the employee engagement and pulse surveys, partnering with business leaders and the People team to develop impactful action plans based on the results

Collaborate with senior management and executive leadership to develop intentional and strategic employee engagement programs that are employee centric, user friendly, fun and driven that help drive business impact and amplifies an organizational culture consistent with our mission and principles

Learning, Innovation & Proactive Approach

You'll evolve the systems & processes already in place to keep us agile, innovative, supportive and collaborative as we continue to scale our teams globally.

Continually learn best practices in the market on how to drive effective employee engagement and productivity

Proactively assess organizational development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions

Area Expertise

Specialized expertise with building world-class, progressive executive development, learning and development programs

Understanding cultural nuances with proven success leading in diverse, global organizations

Proven track record of successful employee program design to drive employee productivity and engagement with a strong acumen for data and analytics to demonstrate positive ROI on programs

Target experience:

7+ years of experience in HR

4+ years of people management experience

Change.org is a global company, and salaries are adjusted for cost of labor in each city. For example, the annual salary of a Director of HR is $171,500 USD in New York City , would be $146,000 USD in Atlanta or $144,500 CAD in Toronto . The annual salary of a Senior Director of HR is $218,500 USD in New York City , would be $185,500 USD in Atlanta or $179,000 CAD in Toronto.

We anticipate moving quickly and our evaluation process is as follows:

45 minute screen with a Recruiter

1 hour interview with our Director of People

2 hour take home assignment

3 hour virtual onsite with our HRBPs, Senior People Operations System Analyst, VP of People

45 minute interview with our COO
